Planning your York garden design project.
Before you talk to a professional garden designer about your project, consider these few simple questions. The answers could help you find the right designer for you, and lead to a more productive first meeting.
What do I need to think about before talking to a garden designer about my York garden for the first time?
Spending a little time thinking about how you will use your garden can help ensure the finished result looks, feels and functions exactly as you need it.
In particular, consider these points:
I have images of plants/features/gardens I like. Would they be helpful?
Absolutely. You do not have to provide us with anything, but sharing any magazine or internet images you like will help us better understand the results you would like to achieve.
Why do you need to know my budget?
Every York garden design project we undertake is guided by a number of different factors. Your plans - and the possibilities and limitations of the space - help define the project. Knowing your budget is another crucial element that can help the designer of your York garden understand what it will be possible to include within your design.
For lower budgets, our ‘design in a day service’ will help you get the most from the money you have, perhaps focusing on planting over building. For larger budgets, a full garden design will be the blueprint that enables your garden to develop in the most sensible, cost effective way. For more, please see our garden design services in York.
How long will my York garden design take?
We always give an indication of timescales involved in completing your project, but please bear in mind that a considered design takes time to create. When building begins, progress can be affected by the weather.
Will I need to spend lots of time maintaining my garden?
Only if you want to. We design York gardens that give keen gardeners the chance to indulge their passion every day. We also create garden designs that keep maintenance to a minimum for busy households.
There may be no such thing as a ‘no maintenance’ garden, but we always tailor your garden design to the amount of time you have to look after it.
How will I look after my finished garden?
If you are an experienced gardener, you may simply want to be left alone to enjoy and tend to your garden. Alternatively, you may feel you need a full maintenance schedule for all your plants. We will provide as much help and advice as you need.
